“We preach Christ, and Him Crucified”
I Corinthians 2:2
“For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
When we reach the point of desperation, where all we can do is cry out, ‘Lord, help!’ it is then that we begin to come to our senses and see our own condition – and the condition of others – in a new and right light. But when we interact with others, expecting them to have earned a certain standing before God based on anything other than Christ’s mercy and grace, we fail to understand our own condition and our own standing before God. Instead of imitating God’s compassion, we add to their shame. Oh Lord, would you move me to run towards those bound by shame, speaking words of hope and covering them with the mercy of Jesus, who took on the shame of the cross to cover the shame of His people once and for all.
“The Lord is Known by Mercy”
Do I truly believe that?
